As outlined in our whole school homework policy (PDF 125KB), homework is an important part of your learning. At the Smiths Hill HS centre homework is managed and monitored in the following way:

Teachers will

  • issue written information at the beginning of each semester, providing guidelines about the type of homework that will be set for the class during the course and a teacher contact email address for parents/caregivers
  • encourage students to record homework and the due date in their school diary
  • email homework to absent students, if possible
  • review homework at the beginning of the lesson or collect written responses for later marking, as appropriate
  • provide feedback to students about the quality of their homework and how improvements can be made
  • maintain records about completion of homework by students
  • notify parents/caregivers after the second time students do not complete homework
  • refer concerns regarding homework to the assistant supervisor or curriculum coordinator

Centre executive will

Counsel the student and maintain contact with the parents and caregivers in any case where homework is consistently not being completed.
