Homework and behviour policies

You may download the centre's  behaviour for successful learning guidelines (PDF 153KB)

All students who attend the Saturday School of Community Languages are expected to behave in a respectful, responsible and safe manner at all times.

As outlined in our whole school homework policy (PDF 125 KB), homework is an important part of your learning. Homework given at the Birrong Girls HS centre is outlined in the homework procedures:

  • All students from Years 7-12 are expected to complete homework regularly.
  • Students must be aware of the date due for homework and present work on time.
  • If a student knows that he/she is going to be absent on a particular Saturday, every effort should be made to have the work ready on the Saturday he/she returns. Emailing the work to the teacher is also permissible via the DEC portal.
  • It is expected that students in Years 7 to 10 should be spending 1 hour on homework per week and students in Years 11 and 12 should be spending 2 hours per week. Senior students must realise that homework demands will increase as they progress in their studies.

Consequences of failure to complete homework are:

  • If homework is not completed, students will need to negotiate with their teachers for a new completion and submission time.
  • If a pattern of homework non-completion occurs, a letter will be sent home to parents or caregivers. Warning letters alert parents when non-completion of work leads to endangering the student not meeting the course requirements and/or outcomes.

Teachers are expected to mark homework promptly and provide timely feedback.
